Ticket options for kids
Booking a ticket
The ticket options for your child depend on their age during your entire trip, including the return flight. Up until 12 years old, your kids get a reduced ticket price on most routes. When you start booking your flight, make sure to select your child’s age. You’ll automatically see the reduced ticket price.
Babies between 0 and 23 months old
Is your child younger than 2 years old? You won’t receive a seat for the little one – we assume that your baby will sit on your lap during the flight. This gives them a strongly reduced ticket price. Note, though: if your child celebrates their second birthday during your trip, the strongly reduced ticket price no longer applies. You’ll pay the child fare for all their flights in your booking. Unfortunately, bookings for children turning 2 years old during the trip cannot be made online. Please contact us for assistance.
If you want to have some extra space, it’s always possible to book a separate seat for your baby. You cannot do this via our website, so contact the KLM Customer Contact Centre to arrange this extra seat. You’ll then pay the ticket price for children between 2 and 11 years old.
Travelling with multiple babies
Each adult can travel with a maximum of 2 babies. Only 1 of them can sit on your lap, for their comfort and safety as well as your own. We’d be more than happy to help you with arranging the extra seat for your other baby. Contact the KLM Customer Contact Centre for assistance.
Kids between 2 and 11 years old
Your child between 2 and 11 years old gets to experience the flight from their own seat! When you start to book your flight, select your child’s age, and you’ll automatically receive a reduced ticket price.
Youth aged 12 and up
You'll pay the regular ticket price for children of 12 years and older, without a discount.
Arranging a carrycot
Are you flying intercontinental, and your baby does not have their own seat? A carrycot might be a comfortable option for both your little one and you. You can request one by contacting the KLM Customer Contact Centre. When you request a carrycot, we'll do our best to arrange one for you, although there are no guarantees until you board. The sooner you reach out to us, the better the chances are.
We advise checking how tall your baby is and how much they weigh. Carrycots are suitable for babies weighing no more than 10 kg and are up to 65 cm tall on the day of the trip.
